Very expected game when 9th ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (4-12) lost on the road to fifth ranked Gdynia (11-5) 69-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gdynia. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski managed to win second period 24-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American center Paris Johnson (193-89, college: San Diego St.) who scored that evening 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks and Aneta Kotnis (186-89) supported her with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Gdynia's coach Katarzyna Dydek used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 17 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks by American center Kelley Cain (198-89, college: Tennessee) did not help to save the game for AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski. Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (183-92, college: Portland) added 13 points for lost side. Gdynia maintains fifth position with 11-5 record. Loser AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Gdynia will meet at home Energa Torun (#7) in the next round. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski will play against Sosnowiec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
