LFB top team - Perfumerias Avenida (16-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Gran Canaria (5-12) in Las Palmas 99-66. The game was mostly controlled by Perfumerias Avenida. Gran Canaria managed to win second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perfumerias Avenida dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Gran Canaria's 42 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Perfumerias Avenida had a 32-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Polish center Ewelina Kobryn (193-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (192-85, college: Hofstra, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Five Perfumerias Avenida players scored in double figures. American guard Taysha Pye (175-89, college: William & Mary) answered with 27 points and 7 rebounds and forward Estela Royo (178-86) added 11 points in the effort for Gran Canaria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Gran Canaria lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Campus Promete. Perfumerias Avenida are looking forward to face Mann Filter (#3) in Zaragoza in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gran Canaria will play on the road against CREF Hola (#10) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
