Ninth-ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (7-10) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Mann Filter (12-5) in San Sebastian on Saturday. The visitors from Zaragoza managed to secure only one-point victory 62-61. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 19-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Italian-Paraguayan swingman Paola Ferrari (178-85, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed 21 points and 4 assists for the winning side and Bulgarian Jaklin Zlatanova (190-88) accounted for 16 points and 9 rebounds. Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) came up with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Gipuzkoa UPV in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Mann Filter. They maintain third place with 12-5 record having four points less than leader Avenida, which they share with Girona. Loser Gipuzkoa UPV keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with CREF Hola. Mann Filter will meet league's leader Perfumerias Avenida in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against Socinsa Bembibre (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
