Regular Season Round 16: Civitanova - La Spezia 67-87

Serie A2 top team - La Spezia (16-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed tenth ranked Civitanova (6-10) in Civitanova Marche 87-67. It looked good early as Civitanova took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then La Spezia had a 28-16 second period charge getting the lead and Civitanova was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-87. La Spezia dominated on the defensive end, holding Civitanova to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Civitanova's 28. La Spezia forced 21 Civitanova turnovers. Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Marherita Corradino (175-99) chipped in 17 points and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five La Spezia players scored in double figures. La Spezia's coach Marco Corsolini allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Linda Manzini (176-90) produced 24 points and 6 rebounds and guard Veronica Perini (175-88) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains first position in A2 with 16-0 record. Civitanova at the other side keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. La Spezia's next round opponent will be Ancona (#12) at home which should be another easy win for them. Civitanova will play against San Pietro and hope to win that game.
