Regular Season Round 19: Brussels - Verviers-Pep. 92-61
Date: January 24, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster's (4-10) road loss to eighth ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (7-7) 61-92 on Sunday. The game without a history. Basic-Fit Brussels led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Maxime Depuydt (192-92) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Julian Gamble (207-89, college: Miami, FL) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Kelvin Parker (184-82, college: NW Missouri St.) added 8 points respectively for VOO Verviers-Pepinster in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Basic-Fit Brussels moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mons-Hainaut. VOO Verviers-Pepinster lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. Basic-Fit Brussels will meet bottom-ranked Leuven Bears (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. VOO Verviers-Pepinster will play against Kangoeroes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
