Regular Season Round 15: Salt - Cornella 79-62

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Cornella (7-6) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Salt (8-6) 79-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Salt. Cornella was better in third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for point guard Xavier Torrent (176-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Genis Bover (201-91) helped adding 8 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was center Alexandre Sanmartin (202-84) with 9 points and 9 rebounds and Cuban center Rangel Ramirez (206-75) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Cornella's coach Jordi Marti tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Salt. They moved-up to third place in Group C-A. Loser Cornella dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Salt will face Barbera (#4) in Barcelona in the next round. Cornella will play on the road against the league's leader Quart and hope to win that game.
