Regular Season Round 6: Sagesse - Homenetmen 94-97

The most exciting game of round 6 in the Pepsi LBL took place in Beirut. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd ranked Sagesse (3-3) to second ranked Homenetmen (5-1) 97-94 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sagesse. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Homenetmen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Homenetmen made 12 blocks. It was a good game for the former international swingman Ahmad Ibrahim (198-92, college: Rice) who led his team to a victory with 29 points and 4 assists. American forward Norvel Pelle (208-93, college: Iona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 9 blocks for the winners. The former international power forward Jarrid Famous (209-88, college: S.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 21 rebounds and American point guard Dion Dixon (190-89, college: Cincinnati) added 27 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sagesse. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Homenetmen maintains second position with 5-1 record having just one point less than leader Al Riyadi. Sagesse at the other side dropped to the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Moutahed. Homenetmen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sagesse will play on the road against Al Moutahed (#5) in Tripoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
