Regular Season Round 17: Iberostar Tener. - UCAM Murcia 70-69

There was a minor upset in Tenerife where higher ranked UCAM Murcia (7-10) was edged by fourteenth ranked CB Canarias (7-10) 70-69 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 24-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. CB Canarias made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Strangely UCAM Murcia outrebounded CB Canarias 36-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. UCAM Murcia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (210-82) who scored 17 points. American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-91, agency: Beo Basket) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) added 12 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. CB Canarias moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated UCAM Murcia. CB Canarias will face higher ranked Gran Canaria (#5) in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
