Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (6-11) lost on the road to fourth ranked Brasilia (11-5) 83-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Brasilia. Sao Jose/Vinac was better in fourth quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Pilar Alves (201-84) contributed with 5 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Brasilia's coach Jose Carlos Vidal used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists and forward Cesar Araujo (201-81) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sao Jose/Vinac. Four Sao Jose/Vinac players scored in double figures. Brasilia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Paulistano. Sao Jose/Vinac lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Brasilia will face Vivo/Franca (#8) in Sao Paulo in the next round where they are favorite. Sao Jose/Vinac will play on the road against Caxias do Sul and hope to win that game.
