Regular Season Round 14: Gimle - Ulriken 51-71

Very significant was Ulriken's (#3, 9-2) victory against one of their biggest challengers Gimle (6-6) 71-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gimle. Gimle was ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 42-16 second half run of Ulriken. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Gimle to just 6 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Gimle's 24. Ulriken forced 21 Gimle turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Gimle was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Maren Hoff Austgulen (182-91, college: Idaho) notched 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Spanish guard Angela Alvarez (168-91) supported her with 17 points and 6 assists. Four Ulriken players scored in double figures. Even 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by forward Katrine Fjaerestad (175-90) did not help to save the game for Gimle. Guard Ingrid Gjerdevik (169-92) added 17 points for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ulriken have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-2 record behind leader Asker. Gimle at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Ulriken will play against league's second-placed Ullern in Oslo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gimle will have a break next round.
