Leader Perth Lynx delivered the thirteenth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Adelaide Lightning (6-12) 76-67. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But Adelaide Lightning won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Perth Lynx won last quarter 21-13. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 22. American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) scored 19 points. Four Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. Perth Lynx maintains first position with 13-6 record. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Perth Lynx will meet at home Boomers (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Adelaide Lightning will play against Canberra Capitals and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
