The game in Porlamar was quite interesting. Second ranked Guaros (8-4) played at the court of 8th ranked Guaiqueries (4-6). Guaros defeated Guaiqueries 70-59 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Guaros. Guaiqueries managed to win fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Guaiqueries 38-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 18 points. Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 6 points and 11 rebounds. Guaros' coach Nestor Garcia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) who recorded 14 points and 5 rebounds and Dominican Victor Liz (188-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Guaros maintains second place with 8-4 record behind leader Marinos, which they share with Cocodrilos. Guaiqueries at the other side keep the eighth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
