Regular Season Round 14: Melbourne - Dandenong 67-72

There was no surprise in Melbourne where 7th ranked Boomers (7-12) were defeated by fifth ranked Dandenong Rangers (12-7) 72-67 on Monday. Boomers were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Annalise Pickrel (190-92, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Stephanie Cumming (178-90) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. Guard Madeleine Garrick (178-92) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Dandenong Rangers moved-up to third place, which they share with Bendigo and Sydney. Boomers lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Dandenong Rangers will face Bendigo Spirit (#4) at home in the next round. Boomers will play against the league's leader Perth Lynx and hope to win that game.
