Regular Season Round 7: Pinar del Rio - Guantanamo 61-77

Bottom-ranked Guantanamo managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses on Tuesday night. This time they won against sixth-ranked Pinar in Rio 77-61. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Guantanamo is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Yoannis Soria (195-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. At the losing side the former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) responded with 11 points, 9 assists and 4 steals and Dariel Sotero (-88) scored 9 points and 5 assists. Pinar's coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Guantanamo (2-4) moved-up to sixth place. Pinar lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Santiago. Guantanamo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinar will play again against Guantanamo (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
