Regular Season Round 17: Al Jaysh - Al Khor 95-96

Important game to mention about took place in Doha. Sixth ranked Al Khor (6-9) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Al Jaysh (10-5) 96-95 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al Jaysh. The guests were ahead by 18 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 24-21 run, which allowed them to win the game. Al Khor made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Ivorian-American swingman Charles Abouo (197-89, college: BYU, agency: Dynamics Global Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American point guard Patrick Rembert (185-89, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds, 15 assists and 7 steals. Four Al Jaysh players scored in double figures. Al Khor moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Wakrah. Al Jaysh at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Al Khor will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
