Regular Season Round 42: Penarol - Atenas 83-77
Date: January 27, 2016
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Penarol (17-13) beat 10th ranked Atenas (10-21) in Mar del Plata 83-77 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Atenas won third quarter 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American center Andrew Feeley (206-83, college: UMBC) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Bruno Labaque (178-77, agency: Interperformances) replied with 17 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international Gabriel Mikulas (200-80, college: E.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Four Penarol and five Atenas players scored in double figures. Atenas' coach Carlos Romano rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol maintains fourth position with 17-13 record. Loser Atenas keeps the tenth place with 21 games lost. Penarol will face Boca Juniors (#5) in Buenos Aires in the next round. Atenas will play on the road against Quilmes MP (#10) in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
