Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#3) and Al Shamal (#7). Al Gharafa (13-2) crushed visiting Al Shamal (5-10) by 20 points 95-75. The game without a history. Al Gharafa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Al Gharafa looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international swingman Abdulrahman Saad (185-96) accounted for 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Four Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. American swingman Mildon Ambres (198-84, college: S.Nazarene) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and Moroccan-Canadian Mohamed Hachad (194-83, college: Northwestern) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Al Shamal in the defeat. Al Gharafa maintains third place with 13-2 record behind leader Al Sadd. Loser Al Shamal keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Al Gharafa will meet Al Wakrah (#5) on the road in the next round. Al Shamal will have a break next round.
