Important game to mention about took place in Avila. Fourth ranked Ciego (5-3) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Santiago (2-5) 66-65 on Wednesday evening. Ciego forced 26 Santiago turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Yasser Rodriguez (187-88) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists and the former international William Granda (189-85, agency: Pro Sports) who added 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. International forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Ciego moved-up to second place, which they share with Villa Clara and Camaguey. Santiago at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Ciego will play against Guantanamo (#5) at home in the next round. Santiago will play against Pinar in Rio and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
