Regular Season Round 9: VS Praha - Alba Iulia 74-70

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Romanian Alba Iulia (4-1) on the court of third ranked Czech VS Praha on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by VS Praha 74-70. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Alba Iulia. VS Praha had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Point guard Renata Pudlakova (179-92) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 steals (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and Mariana Opocenska (188-95) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Serbian guard Brankica Hadzovic (175-81) with 16 points and 6 assists and American forward Shawnta Dyer (185-91, college: Louisville) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. VS Praha maintains third place in Group A with 2-3 record having just two points less than leader Alba Iulia. Alba Iulia at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with MBK Ruzomb.. VS Praha are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Basket Slovanka MB (#4) in Vodochody in the next round. Alba Iulia will play on the road against the league's second-placed MBK Ruzomberok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
