The game in Mash'had was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Arak (15-7) played at the court of 7th ranked Samen (7-15). Arak defeated Samen 83-69 on Thursday. Arak shot 20 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Samen only scored four points from the stripe. It was an exceptional evening for Croatian power forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) who led the winners and scored 21 points. International center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Arak players scored in double figures. Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Samen in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arak moved-up to fourth place. Samen lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 15 games lost. Arak will meet at home higher ranked Chemidor (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Samen will play against Azad (#5) in Tehran and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
