Regular Season Round 23: Shah.Tabriz - Petrochimi 59-86

Superleague top team - Petrochimi (19-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Shah.Tabriz (4-17) 86-59. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Petrochimi outrebounded Shah.Tabriz 37-21 including a 27-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for the former international forward Reza Lotfi (198-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Beo Basket) helped adding 8 points and 8 rebounds. Sajjad Pazrofteh responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Karam Ahmadian (198-77) scored 19 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-4 record. Newly promoted Shah.Tabriz keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. Petrochimi will play against bottom-ranked Ayandeh Sazan (#10) in Tehran in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shah.Tabriz will play on the road against Shahrdari Gorgan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
