There was a small surprise in Mar del Plata where tenth ranked Atenas (11-21) defeated 10th ranked Quilmes MP (10-21) 80-73 on Friday. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 29-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Atenas made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Strangely Quilmes MP outrebounded Atenas 39-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The former international Gabriel Mikulas (200-80, college: E.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) fired 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The former international Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) produced 23 points and international guard Lucas Vildoza (190-95) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Atenas maintains tenth place with 11-21 record which they share with defeated Quilmes MP. Quilmes MP lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 21 games lost. Atenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quilmes MP will play against Boca Juniors (#6) and hope to secure a win.
