Regular Season Round 19: Caen - La Rochelle 90-65

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked La Rochelle (8-11) was rolled over on the road by eighth ranked Caen (11-8) 90-65 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Caen. La Rochelle was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caen looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by La Rochelle's players. It was a great evening for American Bill Clark (200-88, college: Duquesne) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import power forward Marvin Phillips (203-83, college: Claflin) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward William Walker (200-87, college: Bethel, IN, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four La Rochelle players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caen moved-up to sixth place, which they share with GET Vosges. La Rochelle lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. Caen will face Berck (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. La Rochelle will play against the league's second-placed Rueil and hope to win that game.
