Regular Season Round 17: Breakers - Crocodiles 100-93

Not a big story in a game in Auckland where 7th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (9-16) were defeated by fifth ranked New Zealand Breakers (12-12) 100-93 on Friday. Townsville Crocodiles were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. New Zealand Breakers forced 19 Townsville Crocodiles turnovers. Townsville Crocodiles were plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American center Charles Jackson (208-93, college: Tenn Tech) chipped in 18 points and 19 rebounds. Power forward Nicholas Kay (205-92, college: Metro St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Jordair Jett (188-91, college: St.Louis) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 12-12 record. Loser Townsville Crocodiles keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. New Zealand Breakers will face Cairns Taipans (#6) at home in the next round. Townsville Crocodiles will play against Illawarra Hawks in Gwynneville and hope to win that game.
