There was an upset when higher ranked Le Portel (8-7) lost on the road to sixteenth ranked Lille Metropole (6-9) 63-50 on Friday. The game without a history. Lille Metropole led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a good game for naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) who led his team to a victory with 7 points and 10 rebounds. American guard Jamal Jones (203-93, college: Texas A&M, agency: HMS) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Benoit Mangin (191-88) answered with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Claude Marquis (204-80) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Le Portel. Lille Metropole moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Le Portel keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Lille Metropole will face higher ranked ALM Evreux (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Le Portel will play against JL Bourg where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
