No shocking result in a game when second ranked Townsville Fire (13-6) beat at home 5th ranked Sydney Uni Flames (12-9) 89-80 on Friday. Sydney Uni Flames were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a good game for the former international center Cayla George (192-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Mia Murray (184-88) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Guard Tahlia Tupaea (174-97) answered with 13 points and 7 assists and forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sydney Uni Flames. Four Townsville Fire and five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 13-6 record behind leader Perth. Sydney Uni Flames lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Townsville Fire will face Bendigo Spirit (#4) on the road in the next round. Sydney Uni Flames will play against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
