Regular Season Round 15: Bourg - St Chamond 69-80

Very important is a home loss of second ranked JL Bourg (10-5) against fifteenth ranked Saint Chamond (7-8) on Friday night. Host JL Bourg was defeated by Saint Chamond in Bourg 80-69. JL Bourg was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Saint Chamond players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Paul Turpin (190-93) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Lithuanian swingman Mantas Ruikis (196-85) chipped in 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Carl Ona-Embo (185-89) who recorded 11 points and 8 assists and American center Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Saint Chamond and four JL Bourg players scored in double figures. JL Bourg's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Saint Chamond moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. JL Bourg at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Saint Chamond's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hyeres-Toulon on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JL Bourg will play against Le Portel and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
