The most exciting game of round 17 in the Serie A2 took place in Empoli. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Bologna (10-7) to eighth ranked Empoli (9-8) 52-51 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 52-51. Empoli forced 20 Bologna turnovers. Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Nadia Calamai (172-86) chipped in 10 points. Power forward Chiara Cadoni (182-94) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Elisabetta Tassinari (175-94) scored 16 points. Bologna's coach Matteo Lolli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Empoli moved-up to sixth place in A2. Bologna at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with seven games lost.
