Regular Season Round 13: Proteas - Terpsithea 58-61

The most exciting game of round 13 in the A1 took place in Voula. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 3rd placed Proteas (8-5) to seventh ranked Terpsithea (6-7) 61-58 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Proteas. Terpsithea forced 19 Proteas turnovers. Guard Elena Vlani (174-86) fired 24 points for the winners. American center Akila McDonald (193-91, college: S.Florida) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Terpsithea players scored in double figures. The former international forward Anna Spyridopoulou (184-88) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Anthoula Chatzigiakoumi (185-92, college: FGCU) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Proteas' coach Ioannis Ktistakis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Terpsithea moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Athinaikos and Niki Lefkadas. Proteas at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with PAOK. Terpsithea is looking forward to face Niki Lefkadas (#6) at home in the next round. Proteas will play against the league's leader Olympiacos Pireus in Ellinikou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
