Regular Season Round 15: Orchies - Denain 79-89

Very expected game when 18th ranked Orchesien BC (3-12) lost to thirteenth ranked Denain Voltaire (7-8) in Orchies 79-89 on Saturday. Orchesien BC was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Orchesien BC 30-19 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Isaia Cordinier (194-96) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Benoit Gillet (190-86) contributed with 10 points and 5 assists for the winners. Five Denain Voltaire players scored in double figures. Guard Pierric Poupet (191-84) answered with 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and swingman Rodrigue Mels (190-85, college: CS Northridge, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 15 points in the effort for Orchesien BC. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Denain Voltaire moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Orchesien BC lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Denain Voltaire will face higher ranked Poitiers (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orchesien BC will play against Boulazac Basket (#8) and hope to win that game.
