Regular Season Round 34: Indios - Fuerza Regia 94-95

Tenth-ranked Ciudad (8-23) gave a tough game to third ranked Fuerza Regia (19-11) in Ciudad Juarez. The visitors from Monterrey managed to secure only one-point victory 95-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Fuerza Regia made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Bo Spencer (185-89, college: Nebraska) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Fuerza Regia's coach Jose Martinez Boglio allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Center Dee Proby (208-88, college: Oklahoma City) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Ciudad. Four Fuerza Regia and five Ciudad players scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 19-11 record having twelve points less than leader Soles. Newly promoted Ciudad dropped to the bottom place with 23 games lost. Fuerza Regia's next round opponent will be league's leader Soles in Mexicali and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ciudad will play on the road against Abejas (#6) in Guanajuato and hope to win that game.
