Regular Season Round 16: Estela - Mondragon 83-48

Everything went according to plan in Santander where fourth ranked Estela (9-3) outleveled 10th ranked Mondragon (3-9) 83-48 on Saturday. The game without a history. Estela led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mondragon's 22 and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game, while Mondragon only scored two points from the stripe. Estela forced 29 Mondragon turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Riley Stockton (192-92, college: Seattle Pacific) fired 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Pablo Sanchez (198-81) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Four Estela players scored in double figures. Power forward Ivan Saez de Cortazar (198-91) produced 7 points and guard Iker Barbero (192-92) added 7 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estela have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi and Easo. Loser Mondragon dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Estela will face league's leader Pielagos in Renedo de Pielagos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Mondragon will play on the road against La Fecha (#14) in Arroyo Encomienda and hope to win that game.
