Second Stage Round 4: Latvija U16 - Tartu U. 76-73

Bottom-ranked Latvija U16 managed to get a second victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they edged ninth-ranked Tartu U. in Riga 76-73. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 3 points. Latvija U16 forced 30 Tartu U. turnovers and had a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by forward Mara Mote (160-0) who scored that evening 37 points (!!!) and 7 steals and forward Anete Bluma (175-0) supported her with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 15 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks by forward Kadri Uiga (183-97) did not help to save the game for Tartu U.. Estonian forward Nele Laurimaa (178-93) added 19 points for lost side. Five Tartu U. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Latvija U16 (2-13) moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Tartu U. keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Latvija U16 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tartu U. will play against Cesis (#12) and hope to secure a win.
