We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 13th ranked Brindisi (3-14) was edged on the road by fourteenth ranked Salerno (3-14) 51-48 on Saturday. Brindisi was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-12 charge of Salerno, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Brindisi to just 7 points in first quarter. Salerno forced 29 Brindisi turnovers. Brindisi was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Francesca Russo (178-96) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Alessia De Mitri chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. The former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and Spanish center Deborah Rodriguez (187-89) scored 8 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Salerno maintains fourteenth place in A2 with 3-14 record.
