Seventh ranked Gaiteros (6-7) beat at home 9th ranked Toros (3-8) by 12 points 81-69, which is the biggest margin this round. It looked good early as Toros took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gaiteros had a 22-17 second period charge getting the lead and Toros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-81. American-Dominican guard O'Darien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Andre Barrett (180-82, college: Seton Hall) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and international center Miguel Marriaga (205-84, agency: Pro Sports) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Toros. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gaiteros moved-up to sixth place. Toros at the other side keep the ninth position with eight games lost. Gaiteros' next round opponent will be again Toros (#9) in Maracay.
