Regular Season Round 16: Picken Claret - Sant Adria 44-47

Ninth-ranked Picken Claret (7-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Sant Adria (12-4) in Valencia on Saturday. The visitors from Sant Adria de Besos managed to secure only three-point victory 47-44. However their fans expected much easier game. Picken Claret was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-10 charge of Sant Adria, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Picken Claret turnovers. Ainhoa Lopez (180-97) fired 11 points for the winners. Swingman Itziar Llobet (180-93, college: Kent St., agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 11 points and 4 steals. Power forward Patricia Soler (186-94, agency: Regeneracom Sports) produced 8 points and 8 rebounds and center Carla Diaz Polo (185-90) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sant Adria maintains second position in Group B with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Alcobendas, which they share with Rivas Promete. Newly promoted Picken Claret keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Sant Adria is looking forward to face Almeria (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Picken Claret will play against IF Air Europa in S'Arenal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
