Regular Season Round 16: Leon - Betanzos 73-83

There was an upset when higher ranked Leon (6-5) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Betanzos (2-9) 83-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 10 points. Betanzos well out of reach of Leon shooting 100.0 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Betanzos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 100.0 percentage. Guard Antonio Seijo (193-81) fired 22 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) chipped in 22 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). Betanzos' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Wykevin Bazemore (193-93, college: Winston Salem) produced 27 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) and his fellow American import forward Trevor Berkeley (198-92, college: Drake) added 15 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Betanzos moved-up to eleventh place in Group A-B, which they share with Rosalia. Loser Leon dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Betanzos will face league's leader Agustinos-Eras in Leon in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Leon will play at home against Estudiantes L. (#9) and hope to win that game.
