Regular Season Round 18: ASVEL - Strasbourg 63-84
Date: January 30, 2016
There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Strasbourg IG (12-6) rolled over on the road one of their biggest challengers ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (12-6) 84-63. The game was mostly controlled by Strasbourg IG. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strasbourg IG dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket's 20. The best player for the winners was American point guard Louis Campbell (190-79, college: Buffalo) who scored 19 points and 6 assists. International forward Jeremy Leloup (202-87, agency: Comsport) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Trenton Meacham (190-85, college: Illinois) who recorded 12 points and 8 assists and international Charles Kahudi (199-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Strasbourg IG and four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Strasbourg IG moved-up to fourth place, which they share with ASVEL and Nanterre. Strasbourg IG's next round opponent will be league's leader Gravelines-Dunkerque on the road and it may be the game of the week. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against Cholet Basket and hope to win that game.
