No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Jurmala (12-9) smashed at home 7th ranked Jelgava (7-15) 97-64. The game without a history. Jurmala led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Jelgava's 38. They outrebounded Jelgava 43-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jurmala players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Jelgava's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Jelgava helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by guard Edmunds Elksnis (187-90) who scored that evening 16 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American guard Casey Roberts (190-92, college: Liberty) supported him with 16 points. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Ukrainian power forward Andriy Kulish (205-92) did not help to save the game for Jelgava. Point guard Kristaps Plavnieks (183-95) added 15 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jurmala have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 12-9 record. Jelgava lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. Jurmala's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Valmiera on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
