Regular Season Round 18: Chalons-Reims - Gravelines 98-69

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (13-5) on the court of thirteenth ranked Chalons-Reims on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Chalons-Reims 98-69. The game was mostly controlled by Chalons-Reims. Gravelines-Dunkerque managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chalons-Reims dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gravelines-Dunkerque's 42. It was a good game for American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import point guard Richard McConnell (183-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international swingman Pape Sy (201-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gravelines-Dunkerque. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chalons-Reims maintains thirteenth position with 7-11 record, which they share with Cholet. Gravelines-Dunkerque at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. They share the position with Le Mans and Monaco. Chalons-Reims is looking forward to face Sluc Nancy (#15) on the road in the next round. Gravelines-Dunkerque will play against Strasbourg IG (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
