Regular Season Round 19: Challans - Quimper 78-80

A very close game took place in Challans between Quimper UJAP and Vendee Challans. Fifteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (8-11) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Vendee Challans (8-11). Quimper UJAP managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 in the fight for the tenth place. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. It was a great shooting night for Quimper UJAP especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American point guard Omar Strong (175-90, college: Texas Southern) fired 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Quimper UJAP's coach Hugues Occansey used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian Djordje Petrovic (202-84) produced 19 points and 4 assists and naturalized Cameroonian guard Ralph Temgoua (194-87, college: St.Lawrence) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Quimper UJAP moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Vendee Challans. Quimper UJAP will meet at home higher ranked SAP Vaucluse (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vendee Challans will play against Lourdes-Tarbes and hope to secure a win.
