Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Villarrobledo (4-9) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Torrelodones (6-7) 70-54 on Saturday. Villarrobledo was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-9 charge of Torrelodones, which allowed them to win the game. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Villarrobledo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Federico De La Torre (184-92) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Reginald Griffin (203-80, college: Mountain St.) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Torrelodones maintains eighth position in Group B with 6-7 record, which they share with Gran Canaria. Loser Villarrobledo dropped to the twelfth place with nine games lost. Torrelodones will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#6) in Madrid in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Villarrobledo will play on the road against Tenerife Naut. (#4) in Santa Cruz and hope to win that game.
