Regular Season Round 19: Rueil - Lourdes 90-78

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Rueil and 5th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes had identical 13-5 record. This time Rueil used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Tarbes 90-78 on Saturday night. Rueil dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Lourdes-Tarbes' 48. Rueil had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Gregg Thondique (202-87, college: Virginia Union, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field). Forward Karim Gourari (202-89) helped adding 7 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Jamaican forward Ricardo Alliman (201-87, college: Cedarville) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) scored 22 points. Lourdes-Tarbes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rueil maintains second place with 14-5 record having just two points less than leader Blois. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes dropped to the third position with six games lost. Rueil will face La Rochelle (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Vendee Challans (#12) and hope to win that game.
