Regular Season Round 20: Mark Basket - Akropol 84-49

Bottom-ranked Akropol (0-20) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 84-49 loss to fifth ranked Mark Basket (12-7) in Kinna on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Mark Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Mark Basket forced 32 Akropol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brittany Wilson (170-92, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 assists and forward Elin Ljunggren (184-96) who added 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Five Mark Basket players scored in double figures. Mark Basket's coach Frank Alm felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Evelyn Troha (184-94) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and Greek Aspasia Kalampakou (178-93) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Mark Basket maintains fifth position with 12-7 record. Loser Akropol still closes the standings. Mark Basket will meet league's leader Lulea Basket on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akropol will play against Visby Ladies (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
