No shocking result in a game when third ranked Akita Happinets (19-9) beat at home 12th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (1-27) 79-64 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-64. Akita Happinets dominated on the defensive end, holding Tokyo Cinq R. to just 6 points in third quarter. Akita Happinets forced 20 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. Quite impressive performance for guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American center John Florveus (211-90, college: Georgia) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds and guard Shizuka Koshiba (187-92) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tokyo Cinq R.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets maintains third position with 19-9 record having five points less than leader Kyoto Hannar., which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Tokyo Cinq R. lost twenty first consecutive game.
