Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Gran Canaria (11-7) defeated 12th ranked CB Canarias (7-11) in Las Palmas 90-80. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. CB Canarias was better in second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. CB Canarias was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Dominican forward Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Jose Salvador Arco (196-84, agency: Duran International) with 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and point guard Rodrigo San Miguel (186-85) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gran Canaria maintains fifth position with 11-7 record. CB Canarias at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Manresa. Gran Canaria will play against La ICL Manresa (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Canarias will play against Unicaja Malaga and hopes to get back on the winning track.
