Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Sevilla (5-13) lost on the road to ninth ranked Unicaja Malaga (9-9) 71-66. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Sevilla took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Unicaja Malaga had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Sevilla was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-71. Unicaja Malaga made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. International power forward Daniel Diez (203-93) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Alberto Diaz (189-94) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. Unicaja Malaga's coach Joan Plaza allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-92) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St., agency: Beo Basket) scored 18 points. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Andorra and Dominion BB. Sevilla lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with CAI Zaragoza. Unicaja Malaga will play against CB Canarias (#13) in Tenerife in the next round where they are favorite. Sevilla will play at home against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada and hopes to get back on the winning track.
