Regular Season Round 18: Wilki Morskie - Stelmet ZG 67-74

TBL top team - Stelmet (16-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Wilki Morskie (9-10) in Szczecin 74-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Wilki Morskie. It looked good early as Wilki Morskie took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stelmet took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 7 points. Stelmet outrebounded Wilki Morskie 40-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Montenegrin Nemanja Djurisic (203-92, college: Georgia) notched 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) supported him with 16 points. Even 10 points and 6 assists by American point guard Brandon Brown (180-89, college: Montana-West) did not help to save the game for Wilki Morskie. Michal Nowakowski (202-88) added 9 points and 5 rebounds. Four Wilki Morskie players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stelmet have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 16-2 record. Wilki Morskie at the other side dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. Stelmet will play against Polpharma (#13) in Starogard in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Wilki Morskie will play on the road against AZS Koszalin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
