There was no surprise in Zizur Mayor where 11th ranked Venta de Banos (3-9) was defeated by second ranked Ardoi (10-2) 82-74 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points at the halftime before their 52-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ardoi outrebounded Venta de Banos 52-30 including a 22-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venta de Banos was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds for the winners. Guard Pope Urtasun (187-80) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Ardoi's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Hunter Merryman (198-93, college: Middlebury, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Daniel Manchon (191-98) added 12 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ardoi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group A-A with 10-2 record having ten points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Venta de Banos lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with nine games lost. Ardoi will face TAKE Tolosa (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Venta de Banos will play against Clavijo in Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
