Regular Season Round 16: Plenilunio - Segle XXI 71-56

There was no surprise in Madrid where 11th ranked Segle XXI (4-12) was defeated by fifth ranked Plenilunio (11-5) 71-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Plenilunio. Segle XXI was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Point guard Laura Velasco (172-90) fired 16 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Center Daira Varas (193-89) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Plenilunio players scored in double figures. Center Laia Sole (184-98) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Plenilunio have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B. Segle XXI lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Plenilunio will face UCAM Jairis (#6) in Alcantarilla in the next round. Segle XXI will play at home against Leganes (#5) and hope to win that game.
